Why would anyone buy fragrance-free items for their home or self-care?

Fragrance-free? Why would anyone buy fragrance-free items for their home or self-care? These questions are one of the most frequently asked when vending at local events. Many people love the fragranced soaps, and self-care items, or may love to display them in their homes for a particular season or holiday, having guests or visitors over, some intentionally purchase them to stash as sachet in the drawers of linens or towels for fragrancing them with the chosen bars. Fragranced soaps have a place, and I would like to introduce to you the idea of fragrance-free. Here are a few of my personal favorite reasons for fragrance-free self-care items.

(Safe for all ages, protect the ones you love and their skin.)

Sensitive skin and allergies

Sensitive skin and allergies can be a really challenging thing that many of us deal with on a daily basis and can be difficult to find a consistent product line that holds true to fragrance-free. This is my main reason for the line of self-care items that I make. Vending at my booth, these are my people, the ones who I have designed my products around. Soap is so much more than a cleanser, it is a way to nourish your skin and body. It does not matter if you are a newborn or an elder our skin is the latest organ we have and is able to absorb over 60% of what we put upon it. The larger our household gets the more likely that our skincare differs. Having items that cater to everyone's skincare needs helps.

Cooking and baking

When baking and working with food, hand washing is a constant. You want a good product that cleans your hands thoroughly so you can go back to cooking, heavily scented soaps can permeate your skin, cutting board, and even your food or vegetables. Fragrance-free soap is one of my personal favorites for the kitchen, as I love to cook and not much is worse than a meal being flavored by the soap used to wash the dished or hands used to make the meal. Working with dough and foods that are easily permeable, fragrance-free soap is a must in our kitchen.

When sick and not feeling well

When sick and not feeling well, some fragrances can be overwhelming. My go-to sick day fragrances range in the area of lavender for calming, eucalyptus to help to breathe, and warm rich frankincense for comfort and relaxation. Filling the bathroom with your favorite fragrance can be wonderful, let your chosen fragrance shine with the ability to add your own essential oils to your bath water, or shower steamer.

*Pro Tip- Peppermint, lavender, and frankincense are some of my personal favorite essential oils when sick. Adding a few drops to your bath water can help calm your body and mind.

*Adding essential oils to a cotton ball and placing it at the opposite end of the tub from the shower head allows the fragrance to fill the shower without rinsing promptly down the drain.

Your favorite perfume or cologne should sand out

Your favorite perfume or cologne should sand out... It is your anniversary night and you are all dressed up, you would like to put on your favorite cologne or perfume and shine, BUT now you smell like a cacophony of fragrances you have purchased for your laundry detergent, dryer sheets, body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, and any other item you have put on through the day. Most of these items do not have the same fragrance and can be overwhelming when mixed all together.

Hunting and fishing

While out hunting it is important to be mindful of what you have on your person. There are whole company lines that specialize in hinting sprays, detergents, and much more. If you are an avid hunter or fisher a bar of fragrance-free sand soap is what I would recommend you add to your personal pack. It is inevitable that when out in the woods you will have something on your hands that you will want to wash off, and fragrance-free is the best way to go. Nothing better than having a bar of soap after prepping a fish or animal for dinner or processing meat in the woods.

There is no wrong reason for choosing fragrance-free

There is no wrong reason for choosing fragrance-free, maybe this is your first introduction and you have never thought about it before. I am not here to convert you to an all-fragrance-free home, but to introduce you to a few of the most common reasons many may use them. I would love to hear the reasons you have for choosing a fragrance-free bar of soap or skincare items for you and your family.
